I recently hit a wall on my goal to hit 10% body fat this month.
It’s a stretch goal so I’m primarily focusing on positive forward movement and going toward my goal.
Well, one of my benchmarks was to lose about 8lbs. So I thought if I did that I’d hit my 10% body fat goal.
Shortly after declaring this to you, I started going in the wrong direction. I gained a pound.
Then I got stuck there for multiple days.
Here’s what I want to share with you.
When you have a goal, and it’s not going how you intended, you have to make a choice.
If you really want it, then the ONLY thing to do is honor yourself. Honor your deepest intention. Your deepest desire.
And keep going in the direction you want to go in.
The results might not come right away, but doing actions that support you will feel good no matter what. So keep moving forward in a supportive way.
That’s what you can control.
That’s what I recently did.
I was eating right. I was exercising. But it wasn’t working the way I thought it would. I went backward, in fact.
I made minor tweaks to see if it could make a difference. But mostly I just kept doing what I was doing.
I didn’t get frustrated and give up.
And after a few days of staying consistent, I lost the pound I had gained. And then a few days later, I lost another 2.7 lbs.
But the weight off isn’t what’s important.
Being a person who does it anyway because you know it’s good for you is what’s most fulfilling.
The goal or achievement is the cherry. The ice cream is being the person who’s working towards something that’s important to you.
This brings us to you and your goals. What’s important to you?
I encourage you to keep taking steps toward being the person you want to be.
Especially on the days when you don’t see the physical manifestation of the result you’re after.
The act of continuing to move in that direction will feel rewarding.
If you shift your attention to the movement being the goal, it will feel easier and even more rewarding.
