Bonjour...I'm Tara

This past weekend Tara and I drove to South Carolina to watch Dominic play his first spring-season soccer game with his college team.

We enjoyed our conversations and listening to books during the 6-hour drive there and back.

It was great to get out of our environment, and we got to see Dom, which is always a treat. (Can you believe we forgot to get a picture?)

But today, I paid the price for getting home later on Sunday and ultimately getting to bed much later than I intended.

And I ended up waking up considerably later than I normally do.

Usually, I’m up at 7 am.

If I’m honest with myself, I’d like to move that up to 6 am (maybe earlier). But that’s another email.

This morning when I looked at my clock, and it said 9:30 am, I got mad at myself.

Mad, I didn’t take a melatonin right when I went to bed. Mad, I looked at my phone for a few mins in bed before closing my eyes.

But then I remembered something that I try to tap into whenever my day gets started on the wrong foot.

We have the ability to start over at any given moment.

We CAN turn on a dime and change how we show up. How we see the world. What we believe we are capable of.

Often we think of the New Year as the day we make big changes. Or perhaps on our birthday. Or when we move to a new home, town, or country.

But those events are made up in our heads to be magical when in fact, they are just another day. Just another minute of a day.

Don’t get me wrong, if you want to make changes on those days or during those events, I’m all for it.

But I want to free your mind from the constraints of having to wait for those special occasions to make a change.

So today, when I woke up late and was pissed at myself, I could have stayed pissed.

I could have had it negatively affect my day. My week. My whatever.

But I remembered a mental trick that I read a while back that helps me shift my beliefs around how quickly we can change.

This “trick” is rooted in science.

They say the body’s cells regenerate every 39 days. If true, this means we are constantly re-inventing ourselves.

** Only read this next section if you’re a doctor. **

As a doctor, you know the truth is it’s our skin cells that regenerate in 39 days. Some of our other cells live on for decades+.

But for the purpose of this trick to work, we have to suspend disbelief for the non-doctors reading this. And you too.

Just because you’re a doctor doesn’t mean this won’t work for you! It works for all of us.

** Back to the email for non-doctors **

So I like to remind myself of how powerful our bodies are. How we are constantly regenerating cells EVERY day.

This gives me permission to recognize that I can change myself… change my beliefs in an instant.

You can change yourself. Change your beliefs, your attitudes, and your perspective in a minute.

You have this power inside.

We just have to be aware and remember we have the ability to self-actualize new versions of ourselves at any given moment.

You can do this. You got this!

We’re here to support you on your path anyway we can.

Whether it’s through my daily emails… or Tara’s social media posts (coming back in April) or her podcast or a live upcoming program like Moi…

We’re here to help you soar.

I’m grateful to have you here.

Be good.
